How Much?!

I had to leave my adorable new buddy to go to a health careers camp at the YMCA. Tomorrow we are going to Southeastern Guide Dogs in Palmetto to speak with some different people who work there. So, when my mom came to pick me up she brought in little man so they could see a real life hero! One the way out, I had someone stop me and jokingly say "How much? I'll buy him from you right here.." Little did she know that I can't put a price on him..he's going to be worth everything to someone one day.

"Oh, he's a guide dog.."

Today marked Stoney's first outing and it was a very busy day. Bad, I know! He went to Walmart and loved it so much! He was forging ahead, tail waging a hundred miles an hour. We walked through the garden center and to the hardware to buy a different eye hook for his tie down. Stoney decided he loved Walmart so much that he was going to leave them a present. In the middle of one of the main aisles. I about died of embarrassment. Have no fear, I had a accident kit in my puppy raiser back and got the mess cleaned up in no time. I thought we could leave and not have any confrontations, but an employee decided to call in the manager and ran over to me, armed with Germ-x. Yes, Germ-x. The employee glanced down at the dog, a threatening finger pointed at the happy black ball of fur. "You can't...oh. He's a guide dog in training." The employee stormed off, embarrassed to have called up the manager for nothing I guess. At least Stoney had fun while I nearly died of embarrassment. ;)

Sweet Dreams

Little man almost slept through the night, waking at 12:00 and 6:00 to "busy". For those unfamiliar with Southeastern Speak, "busy" is the term used to get dogs to eliminate. He has got sit mastered and is sitting at doors like a pro! I cannot wait to see what this year brings!

Welcome Home, Stoney!

Today is the day that my family and I welcomed Stoney, 5I12, a black lab
male, into our home, which is now his home. He was born 3/16/12, and is the first of his litter to leave the school. Stoney is my first puppy and I am very excited to embark on this journey. One of my best friends, Kelsi, came with me to pick up my little munchkin. He slept the whole way home, didn't get car sick, didn't whine and lay on the floor the whole ride home. I can tell already he is going to be a very good boy. Let's see how he sleeps tonight!
